r0bertbrowniejr:
Yesterday my mom posted a picture on Facebook of my 5 year old brother Sam wearing a pair of shoes he picked out for his first day of preschool.
She explained to him in the store that they were really made for girls. Sam then told her that he didn’t care and that “ninjas can wear pink shoes…

I’m going to stick a little caveat on this because I think that “care” is the wrong choice of word - I would care that they are trans because I would want to be receptive to their needs and what they want. Instead I will specifically say; I would not be bothered by it nor regard it in a negative way, and specifically disregard it in any decision about whether I...

A study released Tuesday finds that in almost every instance, remodeling an old building is greener than building a new one. Beyond that, it shows that reusing old buildings provides immediate results in the fight against climate change, while a relatively energy efficient new building won’t pay climate dividends for decades.
Taken to the scale of the city, the study has some fascinating...

Monogamous/Monamorous Privilege Checklist →
mylifeasasassymannequin:
For the purposes of this list, I will refer to one’s position on the diagram of monogamy vs. various types of non-monogamy (polyamory, open marriage, swinging, religious polygyny, etc.) as simply “relationship orientation”.
Note that for the purposes of this list, “relationship orientation” does NOT refer to one’s sexual orientation re: the Kinsey scale (heterosexual,...

I understand how bisexuals get sick and tired of being labelled with the stereotype that we sleep around, that we’re sluts, or that we’re greedy and just try and get all the sex for ourselves (or whatever the fuck else I’m seeing/hearing go around). Stereotypes suck especially when they are not…

Raising money
Hey, guys, my kidling’s fourth birthday is coming up and I need to raise some money to get him gifts. Soooo….
I do tarot readings. I can do a one-card reading for $5, a three-card reading for $12, a six-card reading for $18, or a ten-card reading for $25. (The difference between them is the amount of detail; with more cards, I can get a better idea of the details surrounding the...

Around nine out of 10 disabled people fear they will be left without enough money for food or transport under a shake-up of the benefit system, according to a report out today.
Plans to axe the disability living allowance (DLA) and replace it with a personal independence payment (PIP) will mean most recipients are reassessed.
A survey carried out by the charity Papworth Trust found 86% of...

WRITE MORE, DO OTHER STUFF LESS.
That’s it. Everything else is meaningless. You can take all the classes in the world and read every book on the craft out there, but at the end of the day, writing is sorta like dieting. There are plenty of stupid fads out there and charlatans promising quick fixes, but if you want to lose weight, you have to exercise more and eat less. Period....

This week's feminist realization

It’s interesting that when it comes to driving, inebriation is a crime, but when it comes to rape, inebriation is a defense. Inspired by this quote.
